2017 Scholarship Essay Requirements

  • Topic:  How Does Geology Affect Your Life?
  • Essay Due Date:  Tuesday, January 31, 2017

1. Essay must contain a cover page with the following information:

  • Student's Name, Mailing Address, Telephone Number, and E-mail Address
  • Degree Track and College or University campus location
  • Advisor's Name, Telephone Number, and E-mail Address

2.  Essay is to contain 500 or fewer words on the topic, "How Does Geology Affect Your Life?"

3.  Essay is to be submitted via E-mail as a PDF document using this E-mail Link or E-mailed to info@pcpg.org

4.  The E-mail Subject line must contain your last name followed by the phrase, Student Essay   (Example: Jones Student Essay).

5.  Aside from the cover page, a successful essay will not contain personal information about the author.

When an essay is received, PCPG will send E-mail confirmation within 48-72 hours.  When the committee has completed its review, winners will be contacted by telephone or E-mail no later than February 21.  All persons submitting an essay will receive announcement of the two winners.

First and second place winners receive a complimentary enrollment for our Annual Meeting at the Red Lion Hotel, 4751 Lindle Rd., Harrisburg, on Tuesday, March 7, 2017.  Award checks will be presented and winners will read essay to audience. Winners may purchase additional guest passes at the student rate.

All students are invited to enroll in the Annual Meeting.

Applicants must be enrolled full time in either an undergraduate or graduate program in Geology or a related major such as Environmental Science or Environmental Engineering.  The program is open to resident and non-resident students who attend Pennsylvania schools, and Pennsylvania residents who attend out-of-state schools.  The applicant's school must be an accredited college or university.
