Course Overview:

The sustainable use and management of water resources is receiving daily attention in the media. When don’t you read about global warming, droughts, floods, and water source depletion?  At the forefront of current issues are concerns over water use development and interactions between groundwater, surface water and wetlands.  Such concerns have been elevated due to population developmental pressures, water requirements for resource development (e.g. mining, shale gas, and industry) and changing regulations governing water use at the national, state and regional levels.

This 1-day course provides a condensed offering of our popular two-day hydrogeology seminar.  It has been distilled into a fast paced and informative offering that provides the needed tools and references for your project implementation.  Our instructors will cover: the hydrologic cycle, the occurrence and movement of subsurface waters, the development of groundwater flow systems, Darcy's law, aquifer anisotropy, heterogeneity, and development of monitoring systems.  The afternoon sessions will include aquifer and well hydraulics, pumping test solutions, use of software, aquifer characterization, data interpretation, surface water interaction and investigation design.

Who Should Attend: Professional Geologists, Project Managers, Geologists is Training, Environmental Scientists and related professionals that require hydrogeological training.  Overall this course is for scientists working on geological and/or environmental projects and who need to learn and/or review hydrogeological principles as they apply to real world scenarios. The course will be equally applicable to field staff as well as managers that oversee hydrogeological projects that include aquifer assessment and characterization investigations, pumping tests and water use permitting.
