How Policy Affects Geology

Geology is often affected by policy decisions made by politicians. This can lead to funding issues, unusual research directions and unintended consequences. Seemingly neutral laws can end up affecting how we do geology and what information is available to the public. Scientists then become less objective observers and more biased in what we discover.
