Instructors:
Course Overview: As an outgrowth of PCPG's Conceptual Site Model (CSM) course, this course will help you understand the roles that human health and ecological risk assessments play in environmental remediation projects. A CSM represents the linkages between a project's chemical source, transport medium, and receptors and is used to guide site characterization and, ultimately, the need for and potential extent of remediation. Most may be familiar with pathway analysis, a qualitative risk assessment approach that is commonly used to identify human and/or ecological exposure pathways like groundwater and vapor migration for example and whether these pathways are complete or incomplete, or if data gaps are present that need to be addressed prior to considering remedial alternatives.
Who Should Attend: This course is intended for Professional Geologists, Environmental Professionals, and those involved in site characterization work wanting to better understand how one proceeds from MSC exceedances to remedy selection. It is suitable for the data collector to better understand how the data are used. It is also suitable for the project manager to understand how quantitative risk assessment can be used and to better understand the work of a risk assessor. Prior attendance at PCPG's CSM course is not required.
