Overview
Beginning January 2017, all reports submitted for PADEP review will be expected to follow the revised Vapor Intrusion (VI) guidance.  To ensure your projects incorporate the updated science of the new guidance, PCPG and PADEP are offering this one-day course taught by those who have had a direct hand in the development of the guidance.  Among the topics to be discussed include:
  • The importance of a VI conceptual site model
  • Application of the guidance to current and future buildings
  • Differences in VI screening for the Statewide health and site-specific standards
  • The application of concepts including preferential pathways and proximity distances
  • Recommendations for near-source soil gas, sub-slab soil gas, and indoor air sampling
  • The use of J&E modeling and VI risk assessment
  • How to perform the VI evaluation for a typical cleanup site by working through a detailed case study
Addressing VI from soil and groundwater has been a requirement of Act 2 and storage tank corrective action projects in Pennsylvania since 2004, and a draft revised VI guidance has been out for the past year.  The new guidance has many significant changes from the 2004 VI guidance that may impact your scope of work, your project schedule and project stakeholders.

Who Should Attend
If you are a geologist, engineer, scientist or stakeholder involved in site characterization, site remediation or real estate transaction due diligence, this one day course will provide you with a better understanding of what you need to successfully evaluate and remediate the VI pathway into occupied or future buildings.
